Saka Maruyama is a little traditional tea house secretly tucked away in a corner of Maruyama Koen Park, like a secret garden within a park. Its presence is a little fairy tale like, with an exterior of a traditional house surrounded by a small but charming garden. Passbys are truly to wonder whether this is a private residence or a tea house. Once inside, you will be welcomed by the beautiful simplicity style classic to a Japanese traditional teahouse. The earthen walls, paper windows and bamboo furnishings all help to create a very calming and zen-like atmosphere.

A range of drinks are on offer, but teas are their speciality, accompanied by a lovely selection of traditional Japanese sweets. Its a tranquil but friendly place, a place where you would appreciate the slowing down of time, enjoying every sip of tea. The preparation takes time but the result is refreshing. A must visit if you would like to experience Japanese tea the zen way.
